Greetings,
It has been a crazy weekend. First things first a couple of days ago I contacted an agency that provides service for people with disability, intellectual disorders and mentally ill people inquiring if they had any job opportunities for paramedic students, I was referred by one of my good friends from Bathurst but now is back in Sydney like me. Briefly over the phone they informed me about what they are and requested a resume by email. A day or two later they called me up for an interview, looks like God really gives us opportunities.
About this crazy weekend or week, on the 23rd of October (Saturday), our Youth Group ran and helped organized a large garage sale at our Church to raise funds for our 2011 Youth Camp. Last week, we've went to residences around the area to drop off fliers and organise games for Saturday. Friday night was our longest night to prepare for the garage sale, because we posted up signs, priced items, make decorations and create an arrangement. The day of the sale, we still had things to do, so waking up real early we had to prepare the items on tables, and set up other technical stuff like music. Definitely a crazy morning.
As the day progressed we got a lot of people coming in for a good bargain. But the weather wasn't our best customer, terribly hot during the morning through to lunch and as lunch was ending it became very cloudy, most of us knew in our bones that it was going to rain. So we choose to pack up early because there weren't many customers coming by anymore. This gave us a chance to start cleaning up the church. Amazing story though, we still had a lot of stuff leftover and it was 30min's before the garage officially ended, now we were worrying what were going to do with all the leftover stuff, like where to trash it or give it away? We took some action to spread it out to our Youth members, but it didn't really work. We thought just to leave it for the next day, I was cleaning a window and just outside I can see the road and I saw a mini bus drive past and park off street, and I was like "Oh man, everything is just in a pile on one side of the church" I was just worried they were going to be turned off but with haste they disembarked from the bus and rushed over to the pile to search for things they might like, they would've of been at least over 25 people looking at our stuff, actually buying it.
I was shocked and so were many of the other Youth members, I wanted to investigate who these people were and how they heard of the garage sale. I was talking to one of them and they were actually garage sale hoppers, going to garage sale after garage sale looking for stuff they might like, that day they did about 20 garage sales, the record is 29! How crazy! They heard of us from a flier that was given to them while they were at MacDonald's! Small world, aye. Although they did buy stuff not everything was gone, but now it is less than we had to worry about it which was great actually! I was really touched to see God's plan always works for us, and I won't say how much money we made because it's not about the money and yeah it was for our camp, but it was always for God. We may not have really prayed about it or genuinely thought of God actually giving us all the strength, but God did it without request, without us really asking for it because you know why, we trust God. and God always answers, provides and delivers!
Here's our Promo video we made! Enjoy:
