Greetings,
Alright, I previously said that I was going to post up another video. But I kind of lied to myself, and probably you too, thought to myself I was motivated enough to finish the editing, I'm sure ill find or come across inspiration and finish my amateur clip. Well I'm here now ready to type something and share you guys another piece of my life.
My mid-semester break is finally over, although I'm not glad about it but what can you do - only to continue life that's been set for me. Before I head into that, leaving Sydney was a little harder than other times. I thought I would be over the fact I live alone (Board with a family) but still I'm the only person from my family, which include my all my friends that lives in a not so isolated area. So to be honest I'm still emotional attached to Sydney. I will always call it home.
I will not focus on this issue for long because it can only get worse. I want to draw your attention that this weekend is the start of the famous V8 Super-cars in the Bathurst 1000. Holden's and Ford's will be at a stand off and race to claim the title. Why I am telling you this? or How I am involved? because I'll be sitting behind the tracks (literally I live behind the tracks, sounds pretty cool) only listening to the cars roaring like theres a battlefield next to my ear. To be honest I'm not a fan of these races so I'll be watching it on TV or just resuming unfinished, unending university work. Although it's going to be very distracting, and that Bathurst becomes a massive tourist feeding ground, now I know how the residence of all the Bathurst county will feel like. I doubt they would feel angry or distracted because I'm sure they'll be apart of the tourist crowds.
You'll know who be smiling by the end of this weekend. Bathurst will be. All the promotion, profits and possession is such a high quality that Bathurst has. All the bars or pubs will be filled with people from wall to wall, actually don't know about that because there are further restrictions about alcohol now, which I agree with. Hotels and motels will not have a vacancy sign out for this week. Residence will flea their homes and let tourists sleep there. I don't know if that is actually true. I presume they would. People can charge heaps.
Its very interesting though, how Holden's and Fords or even this race for that matter actually becomes an Australian icon. It's like "This is why I came to Bathurst, to watch the V8's thrash each other" all the commotion because my holden has 1001 kilowatts. People are so worked up and pumped to see the rivalry between two brands of cars, what I see to be equally matched. Which I probably see why this race has a high reputation. But at the end of the day, racing is about endurance and anticipation.
One of the last weeks of my holidays I was able to attend a Sunday service. And it was about running your race. I presume the sermon was a based on Hebrews 12:1, because It was our churches car club "Team Godspeed" verse and most probably mission statement.
Hebrews 12:1 says - 1Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles, and let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us.
I quite like this verse because it's encouraging, and totally makes sense about how an average person lives their life. Like not totally but how we can carry so much onto ourself that were unable to run the race. When it says "throw off everything that hinders" its like the cars in the Bathurst 1000. These cars are stripped off to make the car lighter and become to the advantage of using power to weight ratio. The backseats, passenger seat, spare tire, dashboard, side windows and anything possible weighting down the car is removed.
And you know whats left, the drivers seat (steering wheel etcetera.) and looking upon this analogy, its not easy letting go, throwing away the things that weigh us down because you know why, were emotionally or physically attached to these things choose not to let go. Those backseats and dashboard are not like Lego, being able to break apart easily. There bolted down and molded into the car. So its not easy as you may see it. But its possible and always removable, and we throw off the things that weigh us down.
But one thing I disagree or another aspect with this analogy, I don't know if anyone would see or realize this unusual characteristic of this analogy. V8 Super-cars are detailed or labeled with large companies or even minor companies logos. Although the racers may represent themselves, but they also represent these companies and promote their causes. Say these labels, are representation of the world, or ungodly representation. Is this why we stripped down everything? to race for the wrongful title? I say not! We should and always label ourselves or cars for this matter with God. To represent him. To finish the race with God to claim his title!
Well thats my little devotion for day. Hope you enjoyed it.
Until next time
