Greetings,
This is a journal entry I did for one of my assessments for a subject. Because at the moment I don't have anything interesting (or maybe I do) to talk about it. I thought this might be good to share. I just copied and and pasted it - in regard to my title.
Title – My expectations…
Date: July, 31th 2008
This past week I’ve been learning a lot about clinical placement from the above years. They talked about their experiences and expectations on the job. It was a great insight and they shared good advice that I could further study on and use for the next year to come. This week in our lecture a presentation by third year students was about their expectations on the job.
Some students who were presenting had high expectations and some were reasonable and practical. Returning back from their clinical placement they mentioned how some of their expectations they didn’t get to encounter. In the concluding part of their presentation they shared some practical tips when on placement, like to memorize your skills, protocols and especially our pharmacology’s.
After that eventful lecture I went away and thought about my expectations when I go on clinical placement. I’ve listed down my expectations
Expectations:
• Fun, wise and out going station paramedics
• Crowds of people watching you treat a patient
• Motor vehicle accidents
• Cardiac arrest
• Asthma attack
• Intoxicated patients
• Elderly patients
• Minimum hours of sleep
• Late nights
• Stressful moments
• Obstacles like rescues
One of the listed expectations that will make me feel really anxious would be dealing with a patient in public, and a crowd gathers to witness you perform your treatment for the patient. I would be worried if I completely forgot my protocols or skills for the patient. Hopefully I do not do something incorrect that may inflict damage to my patient.
Until next time
Keep blogging or get into blogging

Keep smiling =(
